How do I upload files?
(For advanced customers/cpanel users
only)
You can upload your site or any files in
many ways but most simple way is to use
FTP (File Transfer Protocol). FTP allows
webmaster to transfer files between two
computers, generally connected via internet.
Aa good one to try is a FREE we currently
use is
(COREFTP). There are no popups or advertising.
Go to the link below and download the latest
version.
http://www.coreftp.com/
I would save this to your desktop to access
it easily.
They update this software often so check
back to update yours from time to time.
It is very easy to use.. just click on
the site manage button (two arrows) and
add your info.
1) Website name:berkshirehosting.com
2) Host ip address : ( 00.00.00.000 )
3) Username (same as cpanel login)
4) Password (same as cpanel login)
5) Hit CONNECT!
The left side are your computer files.
The right side are your website files.
When you click on a file it will highlight...and
on the side you are working on a blue arrow
will highlight on the panel above.
Once you find the file you want to transfer
you will need to choose a destination file
to send the file (on the opposite side).
You will then hit the blue arrow to transfer
your files
You can hold down the shift key to highlight
larger amounts of files to upload at once.
It can take a little while to upload all
these files depending on you computer and
connection speed. Just one file takes only
a few seconds.
You will want to be able to access it easily
I usually save them to my desktop to be
able to access them easily..****Then save
them to a disk for backup!
This is great if you want to edit some files
and upload them to your site too!
You can save your info and choose the (new
site) button if you want to upload another
site without having to retype everything
every time.
To edit or save small files for editing. We
usually use Dreamweaver or Notepad.
